Help Wanted, from Depts of Education

We continue to fund the music lessons at two early childhood centers in the Bronx, as well as hundreds of Musical Associates instrumental lessons for children whose families face economic disadvantages. The Foundation needs some serious financial support in order to continue and expand these projects. We are currently adding the funding of lessons for children in New Milford and Brookfield, Connecticut.

We are hoping to get funding through Education Departments in New York State, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC for similar projects and for after school lessons at Title I schools in those states.

Funding Preschool Music Lessons in The Bronx and Guitar Clubs in Newburgh, New York

We are currently delivering preschool general music classes and small group preschool guitar and piano classes at one Addie Mae Collins center and soon in another Addie Mae Collins center in the Bronx. Those centers are for fully Title I families, and we are actively seeking funding to support them.

In addition, we are going to be delivering afterschool guitar classes for children in Newburgh, NY. We are planning a fundraising benefit concert for that at 4PM on June 8, 2024 at the Spirits Lab. The concert will feature The Old Guitarist, debuting his new album, Bach and Bourbon. Special guest Cinnamon will join him for a few songs as well. See the Events page for details.

Supporting Boston GuitarFest ’22

Once again we are proud to be supporting scholarships for students who wish to participate in BGFestXVII. Under the skilled artistic direction of Eliot Fisk, Boston Guitar Fest has been celebrating the versatility and virtuosity of guitar artists and aficionados for seventeen years. This year’s festival theme is “Towards the Light,” and it features appearances by the great Oscar Ghiglia as well as renowned classical guitarist Meng Su. We look forward to the great music that will be made there this June!

Helping Music Students at Schools in Boston, Washington, DC, and soon in NYC!

We are happy to be helping children in Boston with four scholarships at both the Boston Teachers Union Pilot K-8 School and the Henry Grew Elementary School for after school music lessons with The Village Music School.

We’ve also begun to support four after school music lessons scholarships for children at Stoddert Elementary School in Washington DC in partnership with The Village Music School.

And today we have just confirmed that The Village Music School will be giving violin lessons at PS 11 in New York City starting February. We are gladly offering them up to four scholarships for children in need to be able to take those lessons.

The Village Music School Foundation will gladly support up to four scholarships for music lessons, including rental instruments, in after school programs at schools that partner with The Village Music School.
